How much protein did you eat before noon today? Coffee does not count.
Hold that number. Something needs cleaning up first.
Saw a guy on X last month telling men the body can only use 30 grams of protein at a sitting. Anything past that, you flush.
Confident number. Nothing under it.
Let's do the math. If 30 grams were a hard ceiling, half of every steak you have ever ordered went straight down the drain.
The number did come from somewhere real. Researchers compared a small protein dose against a large one, watched muscle building for a few hours, and the big dose did not do much more.
Then it left the lab. A measurement window turned into a law of the body.
America’s answer to universal basic income
Saudi Arabia figured it out.
They pay their citizens $3,600 a month per family. Just for existing. Funded entirely by oil.
Meanwhile, politicians in America are arguing about Twitter, while you get nothing from the $300 billion we generate from oil and gas every year.
But there is a way to collect.
It's called the Patriot Income Plan, or P.I.P. for short.
It's not a government program. It's not a stimulus check. It's not tied to an election or a budget vote.
It's direct ownership in 14 entities that control America's energy infrastructure — pipelines, terminals, processing plants — and pay 10% a year to everyone who holds units.
Put in $10,000 = get $1,000 back.
Put in $50,000 = get $5,000 back.
Put in $100,000 = get $10,000 back.
42 payouts a year. Deposited automatically.
This is universal basic income for people who don't want to wait around for the government to figure it out.
P.I.P. is on pace to pay out $53 billion this year — a record. The next distribution drops in days.
A Dutch team ran it again in 2023 and watched a lot longer. One hundred grams in a single sitting, tracked out past twelve hours.
Muscle was still building the whole way out. No ceiling, just a body taking its time.
While we are in the numbers, the daily one. The 0.8 grams per kilo you see quoted is a floor to keep a body from breaking down, not a target for a man trying to hold what he has.
The research on men our age keeps landing between 1.2 and 1.6 grams per kilo. At 190 pounds you are 86 kilos, so call it 105 to 140 grams a day.
Most guys guess they eat 140 and land closer to 80.
So the cap is fiction. What bothers me is the habit it built.
It taught men to spread protein thin. A dusting at breakfast, a sandwich at lunch, the real load at seven at night.
Past 45, that order is backwards.
Term of the Day
Anabolic Resistance
Past a certain age the same meal sends a weaker build signal to your muscle.
Same plate, quieter answer. The switch still works, it just takes more to trip it.
What trips it is mostly one amino acid, leucine. Work in older men keeps landing around 2.5 to 3 grams of leucine in a single meal to get the full response.
Call it 35 to 40 grams of quality protein at one sitting. Not sprinkled across three.
Count your breakfast. Two eggs is about 12 grams.
So you are not tripping that switch until dinner. Most of your day, your body is holding, not building.
And holding is not neutral, because muscle is not decoration. It is your amino acid reserve, and the biggest place your blood unloads the sugar from a meal.
You lose somewhere between 3 and 8 percent of it per decade after 30, faster if you feed it like an afterthought.
Less muscle, fewer places for that sugar to go. Blood sugar swings, and your thinking swings with it.
Here is the part most men never connect. The protein on your plate is not only muscle material.
Tyrosine comes out of that same protein, and your brain builds dopamine out of tyrosine. Dopamine is drive.
Thin protein day, flat afternoon, and you go blame your calendar.
Now, 35 grams before ten in the morning is a real ask for a man who drinks his breakfast. That is exactly the job a quality whey or a leucine-heavy protein powder does.
Not a shortcut. A way to hit a number your morning will not let you hit with a fork.
One caution. If your kidneys are compromised, a high protein target is a conversation with your doctor before it is a plan.
One Thing
35 grams of protein before 10am tomorrow. One meal, one change, and you can ignore everything else in this issue.
Your muscle is the strangest asset you will ever own. It is the only one you have to buy again every single day, and the only one that pays out when nothing else can be sold.
Buy it in the morning.
